Undertow

Plunging beneath the waves we discover a world teaming with life and pulsing with energy. But we cannot hold our breath forever. (And not only that, there seem to be cars down here, masquerading as breaking waves!)

Undertow was composed in 2007 at the composer’s studio and premiered on June 2, 2007 at Place des Terreaux in Lyon (France) as part of the choreographic project Océan Cité by Compagnie Pierre Deloche Danse. It was commissioned by the Compagnie Pierre Deloche for Océan Cité which also involved composers Bernard Fort, Magdalena Dlugosz, James Giroudon, and Jean-François Estager. Thanks to Martin Clarke for additional sea recordings from the Shetland Islands (Scotland, UK).
