Docteur Kramer (You Are Not You)

Lionel Marchetti, Emmanuel Petit

Programme notes

Docteur Kramer (You Are Not You) was inspired by a sequence from the Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr’s Satan Tango, a seven-hour movie recounting the fall of Communism. Marchetti’s concrete electronic textures fuse with Petit’s abstract guitar work. Slowness becomes an absolute leitmotiv, like Béla Tarr’s films, although that slowness is occasionally interrupted by violent electrical movements, as if to remind us that nothing ever gets set in stone.
