Laura Wilcox

A graduate from McGill University in Montréal, Laura Wilcox studied initially with her father, and later on with Emmanuel Vardi and Charles Castleman in New York City (USA). From an early age she has performed classical and contemporary repertoire including the Tchaïkovski, Lalo, Sibelius and Bruch violin concerti as well as Bartók, Penderecki and most recently Barroso’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra which she premiered in Toronto with the Esprit Orchestra. As a recitalist, Laura Wilcox has performed extensively across the USA, as well as in Europe and Canada. She has been founding member of the Atlantic string quartet in Canada and the Athena string quartet in the USA, principal viola and soloist with Jeunes virtuoses de Montréal, member of the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal (ECM+) and Québec City’s Les violons du Roy.
